Big up the lads, as they say. Kunninmindz.com celebrated their 5th year in operation over the weekend (Feb. 16th, to be exact) by blowing the roof off Rhythm Factory in London. Based on the pictures up on dontstayin.com it looks like it was yet another great time.

It's tough to stay running and relevant in the ever-evolving world of internet radio. I thank Mindz once again for reaching out to me about 2.5 years ago for a time slot on kunninmindz.

For those of you that don't know me personally, I was extremely lucky to have grown up in the south suburbs of Chicago and exposed to Chicago House Music at the tender age of 12. Musical anthropology is an interesting thing. You don't really know what you were a part of until 20 years later someone posts a blog or website that has links to mixes containing tracks from 1985-1988.
Seriously. I listened to the Tribal Touch "Fab Classics" mix and I felt like I was back in the 80s.
Anything by Tribal Touch, the Hardkiss brothers, Garth, Jeno, DJ Dan or Hipp-E will give you that West Coast tribal house vibe. Be sure to check out the LIVE Come-Unity sets as that was one of the foundational crews for the US rave scene on the West Coast.
Check out Mark Farina, Traxx, Jevon Jackson, Mystic Bill, Astroboy, Sneak, Glenn Underground, Derrick Carter or Terry Mullan for that Chicago / Midwestern Raver feel. If it wasn't for those guys, 1000's of kids in the late 80's and 90's wouldn't have been able to experience the slice of musical history dedicated to US rave.
Fuck it. Download them all! These are great archives and much love to the team for putting it together.
